Marvin N. “Skip" Schoenhals is chairman, president, and chief executive officer of WSFS Financial Corporation.

Schoenhals joined WSFS Financial Corporation in 1990 as president and chief executive officer of both WSFS Financial Corporation and its principal subsidiary Wilmington Savings Fund Society, FSB (“WSFS”).  WSFS is one of the top performing banking organizations in the country.  WSFS is a traditional community banking organization serving northern Delaware and southeastern Pennsylvania.  WSFS has specialty subsidiaries in ATM services and insurance and mutual fund sales.

He was elected chairman of WSFS Financial Corporation in 1992.

From 1988-1990, Schoenhals was president and chief executive officer of Peoples Savings Bank (now Standard Federal Bank), Monroe, Michigan.  Peoples was a community banking organization serving Monroe County, Michigan.  Under his leadership, Peoples’ net income increased 60% in a two-year period of time and the company stock increased in value by 200%.  Schoenhals negotiated a successful sale of the company in 1989.

In 1974, Schoenhals joined Old Kent Financial Corporation, Grand Rapids, Michigan as executive vice president of Old Kent Bank Central, Owosso, Michigan.  In 1982, he became chairman, president, and chief executive officer of Old Kent Bank of Brighton, Brighton, Michigan.  In 1985, he assumed the position of senior vice president of Old Kent Bank and Trust, Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Schoenhals is active in several professional, business, and advisory organizations as well as community affairs.  He serves on the Boards of Burris Logistics, Brandywine Mutual Funds, and is Chairman of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Pittsburgh.

Locally, he is Chairman of the Delaware Public Policy Institute and the Sunday Breakfast Mission, as well as a member of the board of directors of the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce.  Schoenhals is a past Chairman of the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce and past member of the board of directors of Wilmington Renaissance, the Wilmington Housing Partnership, the Delaware Family Foundation, and the United Way of Delaware, Inc.

Schoenhals is a former Mayor of Owosso, Michigan and served as president of the Rotary Club of Owosso and of the Owosso City Club, and as chairman of the Livingston County United Way Campaign.

Born in Kalamazoo, Michigan in 1947, Schoenhals holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, with Distinction, from the University of Michigan and a Master of Business Administration, “Dean’s List,” from the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Finance and Commerce.
