Daniel Rich

Daniel Rich is the Provost of the University of Delaware. As the chief academic officer, he is responsible for the administration of all programs of instruction, research, and service, and for facilitating the success of the University’s 1,100 faculty and 21,000 students.


 From 1996-2001, he served as founding dean of the College of Human Services, Education and Public Policy, and from 1991-1996, as dean of the College of Urban Affairs and Public Policy at the University of Delaware.  Dr. Rich is professor of Urban Affairs and Public Policy with a joint appointment in the Department of Political Science and International Relations.


A fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, Dr. Rich is the author or editor of thirteen books and numerous other publications on public policy. He is the recipient of the University of Delaware’s excellence in teaching awards. Dr. Rich’s public and professional service contributions include the Delaware Mentoring Council, a variety of appointments in support of preK-12 education improvement in Delaware, and service on the Boards of the Delaware Public Policy Institute, the Nemours Foundation Health Promotion and Prevention Services, and the Delaware Foundation for Science and Mathematics Education.


Dr. Rich received his Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, his M.P.I.A. from the University of Pittsburgh, and his B.A. from Brooklyn College of the City University of New York.
